Call them “missions” or “acts of compassion” or whatever, but Christians know that Jesus calls us to make a difference in the lives of people who are in need. Christians make a difference in the lives of other people.  We can’t do everything but we can all do something!  Here are just some of the mission ministries Wesley supports:

EP Usamba School project Providing new desks and new roofs for the EP Usamba mission school in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Hawkeye Harvest Food BankHawkeye Harvest Food Bank serves the Mason City area.
Trinity House of HopeTrinity House of Hope provides shelter for homeless women.  
Women at the Well–“Women at the Well” is the name of a United Methodist Church within the prison walls at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women in Mitchellville, Iowa.  To learn more check out the “Women at the Well” web site
Imagine No Malaria–The United Methodist Church has joined together with other churches and organizations to fight malaria.  For more information see their web site.  
Thanksgiving Ingathering–Every fall United Methodists from all over Iowa to gather kits and other resources that are sent around the world to people in need.  For a more detailed description as well as descriptions and instructions of the kits, go to the conference web site 
Appalachia Service Project–The United Methodist Churches of Mason City and the surrounding area send groups of youth and adults to the hills of Kentucky for one week each summer for a mission trip through Appalachia Service Project.  
Tree of Life Ministry–A mission trip to Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota takes place at the end of January each year, offering  a taste of Lakota culture and share in a variety of ministries offered by the Tree of Life Ministry.  
UMCOR–When disaster strikes around the world, United Methodist are ready through the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  
Larry & Jane Kies–Larry and Jane are missionaries from Waverly, Iowa who are in ministry at Africa University in Zimbabwe in southern Africa.  Larry teaches farming skills and Jane teaches English.  
Other ADVANCE Specials–The United Methodist Church has an extensive mission giving program called ADVANCE.  These projects are carefully screen and approved and 100% of your gift goes directly to that ministry.  Their web site offers a large variety of projects.  Again, you can’t do everything but you might find that God has given you a heart for a special mission.
